Eckmühl lighthouse is situated in French Brittany, at the cape Saint Pierre, city of Penmarc'h.
It is one of the highest lighthouses in Europe.
Inaugurated on October 17th 1889, it was  named after Ms Adelaïde-Louise Davout d'Eckmühl, a major financial donor for its construction.
It secures one of the most dangerous coasts of France, known for the presence of  numerous rocks.
It succeeded two adjacent lighthouses.
The walls are made of granite from Kersantonet. The  inner wall of the stairwell is covered with opaline.
It is, today, one of the most visited monuments of the Finistère region.
