
Part of Glénans archipelago, Ile aux Moutons spreads on 12 acres.
Its western part is extended by many sharp reefs and Trévarez shallows, nicknamed "tuna boats cemetery".
As early as 1795, in order to prevent ships from approaching these ripping shallows, seamen kept requesting the erection of a lighthouse on the island.
