
SSBN antenna at Kerlouan is used by the French Navy to communicate with submarines, using very low frequency waves.
These waves (also named VLF), in the range of 3 kHz to 30 kHz, can penetrate water to a depth of roughly 10 to 40 metres (30 to 130 feet) and signals can reach a few hundreds Kw power.
Aerials are located at Rosnay, Sainte Assise, Kerlouan and Toulouse.
